So what are we REALLY talking about here?
According to One Girl in some parts of Eastern Africa less that 25% of girls finish primary school.
In other parts of Africa only 5 in 6 girls will attend high school and up to 50% will be
married before the age of 18, be pregnant or responsible for bringing up siblings or simply relegated to chores over school while male siblings often remain in school. In a world where girls outnumber boys by 52 to 48 percent, this hurts.
According to the UN, four in 10 girls marry before the age of 18 and UNICEF believed that child brides will TRIPLE across Africa by 2050.
66 Million girls around the world are NOT in school.
